SVF chair of the board Zoomers is new member of Foreign Affairs advisory council
At the proposal of Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Wopke Hoekstra, the Netherlands’ Council of Ministers has approved the nomination for the appointment of Prof. Dr. E.B. (Annelies) Zoomers as a member of the Advisory Council on International Affairs. The appointment of Professor Zoomers will take effect on 1 April 2023 which will be for a period of four years.
Prof. Dr Zoomers is professor of international development studies at Utrecht University, with expertise on sustainable livelihoods, international migration, land governance, responsible business and climate adaptation in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
She served as the chair of WOTRO Science for global development (until September 2022); and became member of the Pathways to Sustainability program board from April 2023. She is actively involved in The Netherlands Land Academy (LANDac) and Diamonds in the Delta network (climate adaptation in delta cities). She also leads the Horizon 2020 program (Welcoming Spaces), which explores new ways of combining policy challenges on how to help Europe’s shrinking regions recover and at the same time contribute to the settlement of migrants from outside the EU in places where they come into their own.
